Healthy Summer Recipes for Kids

Summers is here, the season of ice cream, mangos & cool drinks. But for kids, it’s the season of “all-play all-day.”

However, prolonged exposure to the scorching heat may result in the tanning of the skin. Also, kids at times neglect to drink enough water which, may result in dehydration and giddiness. Restricting kids from having fun on their summer vacay is not something that you; would want to do, but what you can do, is make sure they eat healthily.

Here are four simple yet fun recipe options that your kids would love during summers that are not just healthy but tasty as well.

Mango Popsicles - What's summer without popsicles? When it's the season of Mangos, why not have a mango popsicle? While they are easy to make, here's a shorthand for making healthy homemade popsicles. In a blender, add one chopped mango, 200 ml milk, and few mint leaves. Once blended, pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze for a few hours. You can add a tablespoon of maple syrup to make it sweeter; or sprinkle some Pumpkin Seeds for an added crunch.

A Watermelon Sushi - A perfectly healthy and thirst-quenching drink, Watermelon Sushi is a must for summers. It's a refreshing drink that kids love. Here's a quick recipe on how you can make it. In a blender, put chopped watermelon slices and add some water. Put some soaked Chia Seeds and ice cubes into the blender. You can also add mint leaves for that extra punch of flavor. Now just blend & serve.

Fruit and Yogurt Parfait - Another fantastic summer dish that you must try for sure is Fruit and Yogurt parfait. Here's a quick recipe for it. In a glass, alternate the layers of chopped fruits (we'd recommend you add kiwi, mango, strawberry & pomegranate), yogurt, and granola of your choice until the glass is full. Add granola as a topping. Chill in the fridge and serve! In case you are looking for a vegan version, replace yogurt with vegan coconut yogurt or coconut cream. 

Mango Smoothie Bowl - It's nothing but a smoothie taken up a notch! Summer without smoothies isn't summer after all. And when it's summer, it has to be a mango smoothie bowl.  Here's a quick DIY guide to making a delicious mango smoothie bowl. In a blender, take ½ chopped mango, one banana, 100 ml almond milk, and blend until smooth. Drop the mixture into a large bowl and garnish with some Chia seeds & Flaxseeds. Top it off with one scoop of Daily Dose Trail Mix. And it's done.
